English lesson

There is no set way to run an initial session with a student. We may use a formal assessment, whereas others might use a combination of different activities to assess what a student knows and what gaps they have in their knowledge. We can find a way what works for the students.

We have lots of resources that can be used in an initial assessment for a all student when we tutoring them in each English class.

Reading

We carry out a formal reading assessment for students, with in line the school terms. This way, we will align with the work they are completing at school and ensure that they achieve it. On assessment we look at different types of texts, so that they can find something that they will interesting to work with.

Writing

We ask the student to complete a short piece of writing that can allow us to assess in lots of different aspects of their writing. We may choose to structure this for them, or We may instead ask a student to do some writing independently.

 We use a structure writing, short burst writing activities are a great way to see a sample of writing for the students. These engaging activities provide different stimuli to encourage short bursts of high quality writing that they need with their lessons. We cover a range of genres and many of the activities that encourage the students to choose from different options or topics.

Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation

We formally assess grammar and punctuation for each students by providing test pack that allows us to assist them on the questions that they struggle.

we use a challenge cards help them to revise and also assess them with different grammatical concepts. These short activities practise are different elements of grammar and punctuation to allow us to see each student grammatical skills.
